Of all the cities I visited in June, Ljubljana surprised me the most. This little city wasn’t anything like I expected! A lot of people over look Slovenia as a party holiday destination – or even just a holiday destination at all – including myself, until now! So here’s 10 reasons why you should add Ljubljana to the list of places you wanna party in your 20’s!
01. IT’S UNBELIEVABLY CHEAP
Seriously! I don’t know if the initial shock came from having just visited lots of pretty expensive cities (Ljubljana was our 7th city), but when I was told it was only €1.50 for a huge slice of pizza, and I mean HUGE. It’s safe to say I nearly cried/bought 8 more slices. It’s not just the pizza, it’s literally everything – it’s an amazing feeling paying €2 for a drink that would usually cost me around £5 in Newcastle!
02. THE NIGHTLIFE IS NEXT LEVEL
I’ve partied in a lot of places, and Ljubljana is up there in being one of the best, I’m not just saying this because I was so drunk from all the free shots and all those crazy cheap drinks – I genuinely had soooo much fun here. My friends and I went on the bar crawl (which is on every single night), and we met people from all over the world! So many groups of people told us they visited Ljubljana through inter-railing and have gone back there for their girls/lads holiday!
03. IT DOESN’T FEEL FOREIGN
Not that this is a bad thing – just some people can feel very wary of travelling new places and create a vibe in their head which will effect the final decision of going there! I’m guilty of this, and I was a little nervous of visiting Ljubljana. Every other city on my interail route I’d heard of and felt familiar with, so to go somewhere that felt a little different to me was kinda daunting! I didn’t think I’d enjoy my time there as much as the other cities. Honestly, I felt very comfortable here. It felt a lot like home, everyone was so friendly and I think because it’s such a small city I felt more relaxed there.
04. IT’S CLOSE TO THE BEST HANGOVER CURE
Lake Bled is just a coach ride away – it’d probably be a better idea to visit Lake Bled when you’re not hungover, but in my experience, Lake Bled was a hangover cure like no other. Laying in the sun doing nothing but look at stunning views, eating ice cream, swimming in the lake and playing on inflatables? Sign me uppppp. The lake honestly blew my mind, it was so so gorgeous. Looking at it felt like I was looking at a post card! The beauty there was just out of this world.
05. THE KEBAB
I’m speaking for myself and Megan on this one, I’ve never seen someone more upset about leaving a country before (only because she knew she’d never get to have one again). There’s only one Kebab shop open at 5am on a Monday morning in Ljubljana, AJDA, honestly, best kebab you’ll ever eat. Megan, we have to go back!!
